Digibox-AX/A & Digibox-AX/DA - SDI Audio extractors

Digibox AX-A/AX-DA

DigiBox-AX/A and DigiBox-AX/DA are full broadcast specification SDI Audio Extractors. The DigiBox-AX/A allows extraction (de-embedding) and conversion of one AES/EBU signal from the eight potentially embedded within the ancillary data space of an SDI signal. The converted signal will typically be a stereo pair, but could also be two mono signals. The Digibox AX/D can extract both AES/EBU signals from any one of the four groups available within the serial component video ancillary data space.

In addition the Digibox - AX/DA provides the user with one stereo pair selectable from the extracted group. The re-clocked SDI output allows the cascading of a number of Digiboxs AX/A units which would allow extraction and conversion of more audio channels. The Digibox AX/DA re-clocked SDI output allows the cascading of a number of Digibox AX/DA units to extract audio from other groups within the same SDI signal, or provide digital to analogue conversion of the second AES/EBU signal within the selected group.

The audio to be extracted is selected by a rotary switch, and a warning LED indicates if the selected audio/group is not present. A switch is provided to allow the user to mute the audio - AES/EBU outputs.

The AES/EBU audio which is to be extracted must be synchronous with the video and sampled at 48kHz. The AX/A AND AX/DA will handle both 20 and 24-bit audio. The SDI input has automatic cable equalisation for up to 250m of Belden 8281 cable, or similar.

The Digiboxs are complemented by the Digibox AE/A AND AE/D digital and analogue audio embedders,

The unit is housed in a robust steel case and has an integral mains power supply (universal 90 to 250Vac range) with filtered IEC power connector for safe and reliable installation.
